some progress

I haven’t posted a draft this week because I’ve been working on minor tweaks and trying to find a way to close out this essay. I think I made some progress on this yesterday: I’ll round it out with my 2008 trip to Yellowstone with Maggie. Twenty years after the fire I took my daughter to YNP for a visit. We drove into the park the same way I had in 1988: through West Yellowstone, where we stayed, then spent a day touring Mammoth. And I decided to echo the opening section, which detailed the 3 failures that helped launch me into the adventure, with at least 3 successes in 2008. We’ll see. I hope to post the next draft on Monday. My goal is to submit something for publication on Wednesday. If I do enough with the environmental piece–what happened to Yellowstone in 20 years (rejuvenation of flora and fauna, introduction of wolves, etc.)–then I think I can submit to ISLE, the journal of the Association for the Study of Literature and the Environment.
